It’s been a while since I’ve written. You know what it’s like…the ADHD brain tells you a weekly newsletter is a good idea…you tell yourself, yeah - I’ll write that every week without fail. Obviously it’s not going to happen.
You might have noticed…I’ve changed the name to Applied Myself, a nod to something I’m sure was in all our school reports - Alex has a lot of potential, if he applied himself.
Thinking back to my school days, I’m shocked my ADHD wasn’t picked up earlier. Every teacher told me the same thing: I had so much potential.
On another note, I recently went for a ‘burnout fix’ trip to Nerja in the South of Spain, a beautiful place. So far, I’ve found the best way to get out of a burnout slump is to go away on a trip. Not a cheap way to deal with it, but I find it helps.
I’ve been on a mission to prioritise my health, sleep and nutrition to get the most out of my ADHD brain. I’m noticing the impact it’s all having.
Sleep is by far the most important thing I’ve found since my diagnosis. Although having two young kids, it’s hard.
Food is also key, especially when taking the ADHD meds. The meds make you not want to eat as it is, but on days when I don’t eat before or later on in the day, I feel terrible. You probably have a similar experience.
Supplements: I’ve been testing different ones over the last 5/6 months, and I’ve landed on the best stack in my opinion. It’s taken 10-ish weeks to really take effect, but I feel much less scattered, have way more energy, and am sleeping better- surprised at how much difference they’ve made.
I’ll write a full post about the stack next time, but reply if you want to hear more in the meantime, and i’ll send over the breakdown.
Have a nice weekend, see you next week (hopefully lol)
Alex
